We’re partnering with an established CPA and advisory firm serving clients across Maryland and Virginia since 1984. While the firm provides traditional accounting, tax, and assurance services, its work extends well beyond compliance, supporting nonprofits, government contractors, credit unions, and small businesses with the accounting and business challenges that affect their day-to-day operations.
The firm is looking for a Staff Auditor with 1-3 years of public accounting assurance experience to join its Frederick, Maryland team. This is an opportunity to work directly on a varied portfolio of engagements while learning from experienced professionals and developing your technical and client-facing skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform audit procedures across financial statement accounts and transactions.
Prepare clear, well-supported audit workpapers for review.
Document accounting systems and internal controls and help identify control weaknesses.
Assist with financial statements and management letters.
Resolve review notes and contribute to keeping engagements on schedule and within budget.
Work with clients and engagement teams across nonprofit, credit union, commercial, and other industries.
Participate in professional development, recruiting, networking, and firm initiatives.
Requirements:
1-3 years of public accounting audit or assurance experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
Working knowledge of GAAP and GAAS.
Strong Excel and Microsoft Word skills.
CPA license or active CPA pursuit preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and client service skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.
